Strategy is knowing what to do; why it has to be done; when it has to be done; where the action must take place; how you are going to carry it out; and what means or resources will be used to get the results needed. Strategy is also the study of human behaviour, how the mind thinks and how it turns those thoughts into sequences of actions. It is understanding that whatever action or events you start there will be repercussions that must be anticipated and dealt with in the future.
Strategy must come before planning. If you do not know what you are going to do how can you make a correct political or business decision? You must have knowledge of how, why, where, when, and by whom before you can say, “This is what we are going to do.”
