There is so much negativity in the world, workplace, and always in the news. Studies have shown that by just watching a news show once a day will cause depression levels to rise. On the opposite side of this same coin it has also been shown that not watching the news causes depression levels in individuals to lower. So what I propose today is a few simple ideas for you to think about. Maybe, just maybe, you will see yourself and others around you smile a bit more.
Number one on the list is to stop complaining. Everyone has problems and difficulties and they don’t need yours or you being another problem. It might be frustrating but so what. Take responsibility for the problem, be persistent and succeed. Be noticed as a doer and achiever instead of a complainer.
Don’t talk about other people or events in a bad way. The old saying if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say it should be posted on a sticky note on your monitor and bathroom mirror until it is part of your character. If you don’t say negative things that is another downer out of your life. Create a positive atmosphere around yourself and you might just notice only positive people and positive things happen to you. This is called a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Think positive about yourself, be optomistic. It may be a bad period in your life but you only have one life. Why waste a part of it kicking yourself when you are already having difficulties. I am certain that you have enough people criticizing you that you don’t have to do it as well. Why slap yourself in the face when daily life seems to do that enough.
Don’t isolate yourself from family, friends, and other support. Do not burn bridges. Remember the movie It’s a Wonderful Life and how good deeds were repaid. What goes around comes around. So help others when you can, be kind and compassionate.
